Location: Bristol, Tennessee

Job Relationships:

• Nature of supervision received: Direct supervision from nurse manager; indirect supervision from anesthesiologist and physicians.
• Interacts with: Patients and family, visitors, physicians, nursing staff, radiology, sales representatives, students and clerical staff.

Major Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities

Quality of Job:

• Effectively utilizes the nursing process in caring for patients. Maintains working knowledge of techniques and principles of nursing.
• Documentation is clear, concise and complete.

• Collaboration with patie! nt/family and members of the health care team. Acts as a patient advocate with others.

Quantity of Work:

• Performs job duties competently and in a timely manner.

Adjusts work assignments and personal schedule according to patient load and staffing needs
Knowledge of Job

• Attends all mandatory in-services
• Maintains current knowledge and skill in the practice of nursing including CPR, ACLS and PALS. If ACLS or PALS is not current the employee must become current within six months.
• Thorough knowledge and sills necessary to provide nursing care to patients of all ages and levels of! growth and development.

Judgment and Decision Making:

• Uses problem solving techniques in resolution of patient care issues.
• Directs, supervises and evaluates performance of staff members and environment conditions.
• Acts as patient advocate.
• Participates in the evaluation of new products, procedures and equipment, etc.

Relationships with Others:

• Communicates and performs at a professional level.
• Performs effectively and courteously under stress. Maintains a courteous and helping relationship with visitors, patients, physicians and co-workers.
• Participates in staff meetings/QA committee to improve patient care.

Planning and Utilization

• Utilizes time appropriately and efficiently.
• Sets priorities in planning and delivering patient care.

Attendance and Reliability

• Reports to and begins work promptly; is rarely absen! t and follows appropriate procedure for notification of missed work tim! e.
• Requests for use of PTO are done according to surgery center policy.

• Observes rules pertaining to conduct and appearance at work.

Qualifications

Education and Formal Training

• Completion of an education program from NLN accredited school of nursing, current licensure with the Tennessee State Board of Nursing and current CPR, ACLS, PALS.

Work Experience

• Prefer 2 years circulating experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Thorough knowledge of endoscopic and operativ! e nursing principles, methods and techniques. Skill in performing nursing procedures. Considerable ability to deal tactfully with patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers. Ability to motivate and manage people. Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions. Thorough knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to any age level and any level of growth and development.

Special Conditions

• Environmental: Regular exposure to diseases or infections. Occasional, stressful situations involving patients, family, or physicians. Personal: Excellent physical and mental health.
• Physical Demands: Prolonged extensive or considerable standing/walking. Assists with lifting and moving patients. Lifts supplies/equipment. Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
• Working Conditions: Regularly exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases. Regularly exposed to different cleaning chemicals and ! radiation from radiology equipment
