Job Description
Job Summary:
The RN - Surgery delivers professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.
Responsibilities:
Performs scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
Performs circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
Directly assists operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.
Prepares operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.

Assists with specialized surgical procedures under the direction of the Surgeon(s) and Anesthesiologist.
Coordinates with participating healthcare providers to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and family and provides age-specific and culturally appropriate education. All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Licenses/Certifications/Registration:
Required Credential(s):
BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
One or more of the following:
Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing or current home state license for multi-state license recognition "Compact State" obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Preferred Credential(s):
Certified Certified Registered Nurse specializing in Operating Room.
Education:
Diploma
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
Work Experience:
Operating room experience within the past one (1) year preferred.
