Summary
The Certified Anesthesia Tech provides technical and support services to anesthesiologists and registered nurses in the preparation, care, maintenance, and availability of anesthesia supp lies and equipment. Assists with invasive line preparation, placement, and monitoring. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

REQUIRED:
High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum of four years experience in a job-related field (such as surgical technology or EMT) with emphasis on perioperative or cardiac patients.
PREFERRED:
Completion of a formal job-related vocational or technical training program of not less than one year (such as Surgical Technology, EMT, LPN, etc.)
Minimum of two years experience in a job-related field (such as surgical technology or EMT) with emphasis on perioperative or cardiac p atients.
Certification as an Anesthesia Tech (Cer.A.T.) through ASATT
BLS Healthcare Provider

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Demonstrated understanding of quality assurance, set-up, and calibration of anesthesia equipment and instrumentation.
- Demonstrates competency required to operate anesthesia related equipment and supplies and perform the essential functions of the job.
- Understands the principles and procedures related to infection control and aseptic technique.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Provides support to anesthesiologists and registered nurses in the preparation, care, maintenance, and availability of anesthesia supplies and equipment.
- Provides support to anesthesiologists and registered nurses in patient care.
- Maintai ns a sterile field for anesthesia services. Ensures adherence to the sterile field by applying principles of aseptic techniques.
- Responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, compliance activities, and policies and procedures.
- Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.
Physical Requirements
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: medium work - exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; trans cribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
- Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
- Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
