Room Service Operator - Nutrition Services Call Center - Part Time - Remote

Position Summary:

Assists with day-to-day operations for the ProMedica Room Service Choice Call Center. Position requires frequent phone contact with patients, physicians, nurses, care navigators, dietitians, volunteers, and vendors.

Accountabilities:

  • Solves customer problems, treats customer with dignity and respect. Acknowledges customer and responds quickly to customer needs. All patients, nursing unit staff, visitors, volunteers and co-workers will be given prompt and courteous attention. Telephone courtesy and patient confidentiality must be maintained at all times. When completing telephone calls or patient visitation, refer to written scripts for appropriate greeting and content. Answer questions within your scope of practice and refer other questions to the appropriate person.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to identify and process correct diets and portions for all age groups from pediatrics through elderly adults. Demonstrates the ability to assess and interpret age appropriate data about the patient’s status in order to identify age-specific needs and provide the care needed. Demonstrates age appropriate communication skill for the patient population served.
  • Process room service customer orders including pertinent family initiated orders and those patients needing assistance. Assist patients with telephone call backs or personal visitation as needed while ensuring adherence to all diet orders. Review computer printout to determine which patients have not placed an order for that meal period, and initiate telephone or personal contact as appropriate. Document number of meals served each day.
  • Take phone calls for all food requests. Receive requests for diet changes via computer or written format during downtime.
  • Coordinate processing of AM and PM nourishment orders. Process orders for patient requested nourishment. Coordinate delivery of all tube feeding and oral supplement orders.
  • Respond and cooperate with changes in workload.
  • Actively supports and participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.
  • Performs other duties as directed.


Education:
High School Diploma/GED

Skills: Basic comfort level with computers. Must be able to use computer applications to input and retrieve data.

Years of Experience: Related experience or education demonstrating a knowledge of normal and modified diets and the carbohydrate counting and Protein Exchange systems. Must be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquiries. Requires effective interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of inventory controls including ordering and management.

Physical Demands: Must be able to sit for long periods (up to 6 hours).


Must be willing to travel to pick up equipment. Must live within 100 miles of Headquarters.
