**Job Description:
**Responsible for maintaining and operating the controls and automation equipment, including troubleshooting, creating program backups, and upgrading systems. Collaborates with various teams, such as safety, quality, engineering, and production. Provides technical guidance to fellow maintenance team members and other technical staff at Silgan.
**Job Responsibilities:
**
- Installing, starting up, and maintaining high-capacity automated production machinery.
- Proficiency in identifying and resolving automation issues with Programmable Logic Controllers and Peripheral Interface Devices.
- Comprehensive understanding of PLC Programming and its application in the design and control of automated equipment.
- Ability to perform changeovers on auxiliary equipment when required.
- Assisting colleagues in need and volunteering for additional responsibilities.
- Training in multiple job functions to enhance proficiency in different areas.
- Demonstrating personal accountability, identifying problems, and taking appropriate action.
- Consistently exceeding expectations, maintaining a positive attitude, and supporting co-workers.
- Adhering to existing and future company standards for conducting work and safety inspections of equipment.
- Working safely and following all OSHA and internal safety policies and procedures.
- Completing assigned tasks as necessary.
**Education/ Previous Experience:
**
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance and/or automation in a manufacturing setting
- Proficiency in PLC’s & panel building
- Experience in robotics and programming setup/modifications
- Knowledge of general electronics, mechanics, and pneumatics
- Basic troubleshooting skills for electrical and mechanical issues
- Ability to troubleshoot and re-conceptualize mechanisms
- Positive demeanor, strong work ethic, and mechanical aptitude
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Willingness to assist other cross-functional teams as needed
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Capability to analyze, interpret, and report data on machine performance
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Adaptability and willingness to learn and grow with changing business demands
**Physical Requirements:
**
- Frequent lifting and moving of objects weighing up to 35 lbs.
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on the production floor
- Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, stooping, crouching, color determination, and grasping.
Salary info:
$21 - $27 / hr
