Contributes to the Anesthesiology department by preparing the Operating Rooms with equipment and supplies to support the daily workload; assists anesthetists and anesthesiologists, patients and co-workers; tracks and maintains equipment, specialty carts, trays and inventory and participates in the advancement training program.
Key Functions and Expected Performances:
Prepare Operating Rooms for daily workload
Follow guidelines to set up designated OR's with appropriate anesthesia equipment for subsequent procedures in a timely manner
Organize and maintain an inventory of the workrooms and stock room and restock as needed
Sterilize reusable supplies per guidelines
Interact with anesthetists and/or anesthesiologists
Assist per guidelines during intubation and exturbation with placement of monitors and airway management
Assist per guidelines during intubation and extubation with placement of monitors and airway management
Interact with patients
Appropriate supplies/equipment are anticipated and made available for patient positioning
Patient privacy/dignity is maintained
Maintain department biomedical equipment
Track availability of anesthesia equipment and store appropriately
Perform equipment checks to insure proper functioning
Identify and communicate equipment malfunctions to Technical Supervisor according to guidelines
Maintain specialty carts, trays and inventory
Maintain par level of drugs and supplies
Identify future needs for supplies and report to Technical Supervisor in sufficient time to insure par levels
Continuous Education
Attend in-service training
Read and incorporate information provided through articles and current research
AUTOTRANSFUSION
Perform intra-operative blood recovery and re-infusion per procedure.
Assist operating room personnel with handling, checking of blood, and blood products per procedure.
Basic Qualifications
Job requires High school graduate or GED and 0 years of experience or the equivalent.
