What the role is
As an officer in the Consumer Protection Division, you will play an important role in protecting consumer interests and to ensure that Singapore businesses engage in fair trading practices.
What you will be working on
Specifically, you will be involved in the administration and enforcement of the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act. In this regard, you will conduct investigations, inspections and interviews to gather evidence and make recommendations on the appropriate enforcement or policy actions to Management. As part of CCCS’s intelligence capability, you will conduct environmental scanning to identify consumer protection concerns to address and be involved in the conduct of market studies and policy review. In addition, you will plan and participate in outreach initiatives to raise awareness on consumer protection and fair trading for key stakeholders including suppliers and consumers. You will also handle complaints and enquiries from the public.
What we are looking for
- Possess at least 2 years of working experience in policy, investigation or enforcement.
- Applicants with no experience but have a keen interest in consumer protection law and policy are welcomed to apply.
- A background in enforcement, investigation, economics, law or policy background is an advantage.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Due to the need to engage different stakeholders, conversant in different languages is an advantage.
- Driven individual with a heart for consumer issues, mind to details, good interpersonal skills, ability to take on leadership roles and also work well as a team.
