Content Area or Department Brief Description

The Early Childhood Integrated Systems (ECIS) content area addresses systems and policies for children age birth to eight and their families. Projects in this area build the capacity of state-level or large-scale mixed-delivery early childhood systems through cross-sector, integrated service delivery, policy guidance, system building efforts and initiatives to support the whole child, whole family and whole community.

The Opportunity

The Early Childhood Integrated Systems and Policies team at WestEd is seeking a temporary Proofreader/Editor to be responsible for proofreading, copyediting, and formatting while following style guides and brand identity requirements.

The Proofreader/Editor will support the Senior Accessibility Editor, Project Directors, Digital Strategist, and project teams to deliver high-quality digital products following overall quality assurance processes.

Core Focus Areas

Editorial

  • Proofreading and copyediting content and source references in various digital formats (e.g., document, presentation, online course, website) across diverse subject areas
  • Participating in edit verification, track-changes editing, and other such tasks involved in the quality assurance process
  • Incorporating project- and funder-specific style guides and branding guidelines
  • Seasoned user of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat

What We’re Looking For

The Proofreader/Editor must have effective communication skills, writing skills, and leadership abilities.

  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrable proofreading and copyediting experience
  • Ability to work with high levels of concentration and accuracy under tight timelines
  • Excellent, reliable, and consistent proofreading and copyediting skills
  • Excellent and reliable communications skills
  • Experience in managing multiple tasks and priorities across projects and team members with tight timelines
  • Experience working with team members collaboratively and effectively
  • Self-starter that completes tasks with autonomy, escalating timely and appropriate concerns
  • Experience with accessibility best practices, publication and design, working with style guides, publications, and professional learning materials is a plus
  • Note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Successful candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

SALARY:

This position is hourly at $32.00 per hour.
