Department Overview

Each of our organizations, though completely dependent upon each other, are the experts in their area and will further drive PG&Es alignment around the customer.

The Metering Services and Engineering Department (MS&E) is responsible for the efficient management of 5 million electric meters and 4 million gas meters. It is accountable for ensuring safe, accurate and reliable meters and is part of the cross-functional team that delivers safe and reliable gas and electricity and provides accurate bills to our Customers. This department’s objectives are achieved through strategic and operational meter asset planning, management, meter specifications, troubleshooting, repair, regulatory compliance, meter information support, and a focus on continuous improvement.

Position Summary

This is an IBEW Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E.

Responsible for performing testing and replacing of parts necessary to maintain meters and equipment in a safe reliable manner.

You will be responsible for the warranty program administration for all PG&E gas and electric metering equipment and the coordination between manufacturers and vendors regarding warranty repairs and operations. You will generate and review ad hoc reports regarding warranty claims for new incoming materials (QA) and field returned equipment and collaborate with Engineering, Materials, GEMS Meter Plant, Field, and Asset Management Manager regarding warranty returns and materials disposition. This position reports directly to the Fremont Gas & Electric Metering Services Plant Manager.

This position is Monday through Thursday from 5:30am to 4:00pm.

PG&E is providing the hourly rate that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This position is subject to collectively bargained hourly wage rates and increases. The starting wage rate for this position is $33.28 per hour. This wage rate is specific to the locality of the job. The wage rate is based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. ​

This is an International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E. This job is subject to collective bargaining.

Job Responsibilities:
Manually cleans meter and regulator parts.
Operates intest provers to test meters not over 425 cfh capacity.
Operates materials handling equipment as hoists and dollies.
Operates tools and equipment used in disassembling and cleaning meters and regulators for repair.
Paints meters and regulators by brush or manual paint spray equipment.
Performs general housekeeping duties.
Tests for and repairs external leaks on meters and regulators.
Partner/Direct the GEMS materials handlers to facilitate shipping metering related material, warranty and QA as needed.
Generate and analyze ad hoc reports regarding warranty claims status, equipment, components, parts, manufacturers, and vendors.
Design, create, and maintain processes to for RMA procedures.
Design, create, and implement shipping processes for Engineering projects.
Design, create, and implement forms to use with Materials Handlers to improve the tracking capability and work process.
Design, create, and implement forms for inventory organization.
Advise and work with IT on SmartTrack process to maintain and improve the software system.
Collect, compile, and review materials and warranty disposition for warranty claims.
Complete and submit warranty claim forms and provides supportive documentation to manufacturers and vendors for processing.
Coordinate activities between PG&E Materials and Transportation to route materials to appropriate vendors.
Create Material Problem Reports (MPR) in SAP for QA failed material.
Track and report out the GEMS north canopy inventory
Manage returning overstock metering equipment back into inventory
Release new QA metering equipment back into inventory
Manage Shipper files to ensure that they are correct for upload into CC&B

Qualifications

Minimum:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must possess a high school diploma or GED
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds a minimum of one time a day
Ability and willingness to wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Experience in materials logistics and/or warranty claims processes
Supply Chain/Materials Management experience
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Experience in Microsoft Office (Excel/Word) SAP, CC&B, & Smart Track
